Bachelors/ Masters in Design Engineering

PG / M Tech Renewable Energy / Energy System

Job Role

1. As a Design Engineer, the individual should be skilled in design and engineering for solar power projects, including knowledge of electrical engineering and/or mechanical engineering.

2. The role includes collection of project specific prerequisites and preparing layouts, statistical analysis, string calculations and sizing, solar plant capacity and consumption patterns to develop best possible design scenario to get optimized energy output.

3. The individual to liaison with technical team to develop, design layouts, assess technology, tilt-pitch optimization, DC overload analysis, long-term energy yields analysis and project economics for optimum lowest levelized cost of energy (LCOE) adhering to project timelines.

4. Work closely with the project management and engineering teams, support in the preparation of cost estimations, BOM, and technical proposals, assist from concept to commissioning and post-plant commissioning etc.

5. Must have good knowledge of Solar Power Plant designing concepts and project implementation stages.

Key Responsibilities

1. Responsible for developing multiple detailed layouts for various equipment, BoP for large-scale ground mount solar projects and distributed rooftop solar projects.

2. Prepare comprehensive electrical-DC & AC calculations to support project requirements, civil & structural detailing including sizing of specific equipment & components with respect to safety code compliance.

3. Prepare detailed engineering drawings encompassing plant layout, equipment positioning, wiring schematics and sectional views to streamline construction to uphold bid requirements, and simplify future maintenance processes.

4. Prepare cable schedules, connection diagrams, cable routing layouts, and SCADA system architecture.

5. Conducting due diligence and technical assessments of key parameters in existing solar projects.

6. Conduct energy yield simulations and system development using specialized software, and assess the off-taker's energy demand to ensure optimal system design.

7. Perform relevant electrical calculations and simulations for equipment sizing, grounding studies, protection etc.

8. Support in preparation of switchyard drawing, clearance diagram and detailed technical specifications.

9. Ensure adhere to all applicable building, engineering, safety, regulatory codes, and NEC standards, while designing of solar power plants.

10. Preparation of detailed BOM as per system specifications.

11. Assist in the preparation of technical RFQs.

12. Assist in evaluating vendors and selecting products, including the review of vendor drawings and related documents.

13. Work closely with internal departments to facilitate proposal preparation and secure design drawing approvals. Assist the site team and respond to customer inquiries from a design standpoint.

14. Stay updated on developments in solar energy technologies, industry innovations, and evolving design tools.

Skills and Attributes

1. Proficiency in Ms Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), designing software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Sketch Up or similar software.

2. Possess strong analytical and technical skills.

3. Excellent command over verbal and written English communication and presentation skills.

4. Strong interpersonal skills and Self-disciplined, demonstrates capability to work on multiple projects as a team member and solo performer.

5. Open to travel to project sites and client locations nationally and globally. (If required)

6. Proven organizational, professional and time management skills.
