Job Title for the new hire:

Design Integration Design Standards Specialist

Job Description:

Role Overview: Design Integration (DI) transforms how Amazon delivers buildings, moving from project-based execution to standardized, scalable solutions. This role supports the Design Integration Lead in developing modular design standards, creating reusable building components, and establishing technical specifications that eliminate redundancy across Amazon's global fulfillment network.

Primary responsibilities: DI Design Pillar.

  • This role requires demonstrating bias for action through rapid acquisition of knowledge regarding Amazon's building design standards, modular systems, and integration requirements via direct observation, structured stakeholder interviews, and comprehensive design documentation review.
  • The successful candidate will identify design redundancies, integration challenges, and standardization opportunities while proactively uncovering inefficiencies across architectural, structural, MEP, and MHE systems.
  • Responsibilities include active participation in pilot programs and shadowing key stakeholders across design, engineering, and construction phases to develop comprehensive understanding of building systems integration.
  • The framework includes (not limited to) development of Super-Modules (pre-engineered operational area packages), creation of Mini-Composites (integrated Super-Modules with building shell adaptations), Building Shell Integration standards, detailed processing layouts for storage and MHE solutions (greenfield and retrofit projects), 3D reference models from PointCloud data for existing facilities, vendor RFP drawings, and test fit layouts for multiple design scenarios.
  • Integrate MHE & Storage Vendor drawings during firm engineering design and resolve design flaws and inconsistencies across architectural, MHE, and MEP models.
  • Maintain sufficient process knowledge and analytical proficiency to provide backup coverage for the Design Integration Process Specialist role when needed.
  • Support and advance the Technology Enablement pillar by leveraging AI-powered design tools, parametric modeling capabilities, and automation technologies to accelerate standards development and design optimization.
  • Work with technology teams to implement AI-driven design validation and contribute to the development of intelligent design systems.
