Find The RightJob.

The Designer will lead the design process for custom and spec home projects, serving as the primary point of contact for clients throughout their selections journey. This role owns the full design lifecycle — from initial client appointments through final design pack delivery — and plays a critical part in delivering the elevated, cohesive aesthetic that Canopy Builders is known for. The successful candidate will be design-forward, client-savvy, and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple active projects in a fast-paced construction environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead design appointments and selections meetings with custom home clients, guiding them through all finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, tile, lighting, and interior/exterior color palettes.
  • Assemble complete, construction-ready design packages for each project, ensuring every selection is fully specified, sourced, and documented with zero ambiguity for field teams.
  • Develop spec home design packages in collaboration with leadership, balancing market appeal, brand aesthetic, and budget efficiency.
  • Manage all design selections and documentation within BuilderTrend, keeping project files current and accurate throughout the build.
  • Communicate directly with vendors, suppliers, and trade partners to source materials, confirm pricing, verify lead times, and resolve availability issues proactively.
  • Partner with project managers and superintendents to ensure design intent is clearly understood and properly executed in the field.
  • Maintain the design center and sample library, keeping it organized, current, and presentation-ready for client meetings.
  • Assist with on-site walkthroughs, photoshoots, and model home installations.
  • Research design trends, new products, and the competitive landscape to bring fresh ideas to both custom and spec projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
