Position Overview

Haven Design is seeking a Lead Interior Designer with strong creative instincts, technical fluency, and the ability to lead projects from concept through completion.

This role is ideal for a designer who is both highly conceptual and highly organized—someone who can translate big ideas into thoughtfully executed environments while guiding clients confidently through the design process.

The Lead Interior Designer will play a key role in shaping the creative direction of the studio while managing multiple projects and maintaining the level of detail and design integrity that defines Haven’s work.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Leadership

Lead the creative development of projects from initial concept through final installation, including space planning, finish selections, furnishings, lighting, and architectural details.

Develop clear and compelling presentations that communicate design intent through mood boards, material palettes, drawings, and visualizations.

Client Leadership

Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the design process. Lead presentations, guide decision-making, and build trusted relationships through thoughtful communication and design expertise.

Project Execution

Manage the design process across multiple projects, ensuring alignment between the design vision, documentation, and final implementation.

Collaborate closely with architects, contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure the design intent is carried through every stage of the project.

Technical Documentation

Produce and review detailed drawings, specifications, and presentation materials using AutoCAD and SketchUp.

Maintain accuracy and clarity in design documentation to support construction and procurement processes.

Site Coordination

Attend site visits and project meetings to review progress, clarify design details, and resolve field conditions as projects move toward completion.

Studio Collaboration

Contribute to a collaborative studio environment by mentoring junior designers and supporting the ongoing refinement of internal design processes and standards.

Qualifications

Degree in Interior Design or a related field

5+ years of professional interior design experience, ideally within residential or boutique commercial environments

Strong portfolio demonstrating both conceptual thinking and technical execution

Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp

Excellent presentation and communication skills

Ability to confidently lead client conversations and design presentations

Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to design excellence

Self-directed, collaborative, and adaptable within a fast-paced studio environment

Compensation & Growth

Base salary range: $40,000 – $45,000, commensurate with experience.

This position offers a performance-based compensation structure with uncapped commission opportunities tied to project sales and design revenue.

Designers in this role earn an average total compensation of $100,000+ annually, with significant upside for high-performing team members.

This structure is designed to reward designers who excel in client relationships, project leadership, and delivering successful project outcomes.

Work Schedule

Full-time, onsite position

Monday – Thursday
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Friday 9:00AM - 4:00 PM

Occasional after-hours communication or work may be required due to project timelines and construction coordination.

Travel for educational training and industry events approximately 3–6 times per year.
