Location: Nashville, TN | Full-Time (Hybrid: On-site Monday–Thursday, Work-from-Home Friday)

Kirksey & Co. is seeking an experienced Contract Furniture Designer with CET and AutoCAD proficiency to join our Nashville team. This role is client-facing and dealership-focused, ideal for someone with 3+ years of dealer/manufacturer experience who can manage projects independently and present design intent directly to clients.

Kirksey & Co. is a commercial furniture dealership seeking a creative and detail-oriented Designer to join our team in Nashville, TN. This role is central to our project execution process, translating client goals into space plans, specifications, and finish palettes that drive successful outcomes.

Designers at Kirksey work directly with Workplace Strategists, Project Coordinators, and Project Managers to ensure client needs are captured, budgets are met, and design intent is carried through to installation. This role is both technical and client-facing, with Designers participating directly in client communications, presentations, and project reviews to ensure design intent is clearly conveyed and executed. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and brings both technical proficiency and creative vision.

Primary Responsibilities

Design & Specification

  • Develop space plans, renderings, and finish/material palettes for client presentations
  • Produce accurate drawings, specifications, and deliverable packages for proposals and orders
  • Present design intent and solutions directly to clients through emails, virtual calls, and in-person meetings
  • Ensure designs align with budget targets, lead times, and installation requirements
  • Maintain accurate project documentation in SharePoint and other systems
  • Support proposal development by coordinating with Workplace Strategists and Project Coordinators

Project Collaboration

· Partner with Workplace Strategists, Project Coordinators, and directly with clients throughout the project lifecycle

  • Attend client planning meetings to capture programming details and design intent
  • Provide revised drawings or specifications as required to resolve punch list items
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers to ensure design intent is carried into field execution
  • Communicate design direction and intent directly to clients, vendors, and project partners to ensure alignment

Vendor & Resource Management

  • Coordinate vendor presentations and maintain strong product/vendor relationships
  • Manage and organize the material library to ensure accuracy and accessibility
  • Research and maintain knowledge of current product trends, codes, and accessibility standards
  • Serve as a resource for clients and internal teams regarding product applications and finishes

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years of professional experience with a commercial furniture dealership (or manufacturer/design firm in the contract furniture industry)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and CET Designer (Configura)
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Comfortable presenting to clients and engaging in professional written and verbal communication with external stakeholders

  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record of delivering design packages from concept through installation
  • Knowledge of 20-20 CAP and .sif file handling
  • Awareness of commercial furniture manufacturers and workplace product applications

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Khameleon or similar order-entry/project software
  • Advanced knowledge of workplace product trends, codes, and accessibility standards
  • Experience coordinating directly with vendors, contractors, and installation teams

Additional Info

  • Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (Hybrid: On-site Monday–Thursday, Work-from-Home Friday)
  • Salaried Exempt Position
  • Reports to Chief Operating Officer

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
