Job Description


Role Purpose:

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and modernizing our core business applications, ensuring they remain secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture, regulatory obligations, and evolving business needs. You will lead a team of engineers while partnering closely with architecture, compliance, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, future-ready solutions.

This role combines technical leadership, people management, and strategic delivery, with a strong focus on modernization, risk management, and operational excellence.


Key Accountabilities:

1-Application Architecture:

Participate in the design, review, and continuous evolution of secure, scalable, and interoperable application architectures supporting enterprise, digital, and mobile use cases. Ensure alignment with business strategy, security standards, and technology roadmaps.

2-Solutions Design:

Design and deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing solutions that meet business needs, regulatory requirements, and operational expectations, while enabling innovation and future scalability.

3-Manage Development Activities:

Lead and govern the full SDLC for initiatives to deliver quality, secure, maintainable applications.

4-Integration & Interoperability:

Ensure seamless, secure integration and data exchange across internal platforms and external systems through APIs, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integration patterns.


Skills


Engineering Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the design, development, and operation of core business applications, ensuring high availability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Drive engineering best practices across code quality, testing, security, CI/CD, and operational reliability.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration with architecture, security, and business stakeholders.

Modernisation & Technical Strategy

  • Lead the modernisation of legacy systems, including refactoring, re-platforming, and cloud adoption where appropriate.
  • Ensure systems align with enterprise architecture standards, technology roadmaps, and long-term strategic goals.
  • Balance innovation with stability, managing technical debt while maintaining critical business continuity.

Architecture, Risk & Compliance

  • Work closely with Enterprise Architects to ensure solutions comply with architectural principles and integration standards.
  • Ensure applications meet regulatory, security, and compliance requirements relevant to the organisation.
  • Proactively identify and manage technical and operational risks, implementing controls and mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder & Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with product, business, and delivery leaders to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Provide clear communication on delivery progress, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
  • Support prioritization decisions by balancing customer impact, regulatory needs, and technical sustainability.

Operational Excellence

  • Own application lifecycle management, including incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement.
  • Ensure systems are well-documented, observable, and supported with appropriate monitoring and alerting.
  • Drive improvements in system resilience, security posture, and cost efficiency.

Education

Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, Health Informatics, or related field
