Employment Status: Full-time

Pay Rate: $25–$28/hour

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Development and Communications, the Development Assistant plays a vital role on the Fund Development and Communications team. This position is responsible for supporting all aspects of fundraising and communications, including donor relations, data management, social media, and special events. The Development Assistant will provide essential administrative and operational support while contributing to donor stewardship and community engagement efforts. Success in this role requires a self-starting individual with strong initiative who values and advances the mission and vision of the Pomeroy Center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fund Development

  • Support the Fund Development and Communications Department in all areas of fundraising, donor engagement, and day-to-day operations.
  • Process donations and maintain accurate donor records and files in Salesforce.
  • Prepare weekly acknowledgement letters and donor correspondence.
  • Prepare fundraising and donor reports, and reconcile records with the finance department each month.
  • Work with the Director of Development and Fund Development Associate to help carry out donor cultivation plans.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of all fund development events and the Banner of Love gala. There will be other departmental events that will also require FD support.
  • Help recruit, support, and guide volunteers working on projects.
  • Take on other projects or duties as needed (ex: sneaker drive, art galleries, Spotify, business cards, organizing merch).

Communications & Social Media

  • Manage the Pomeroy Center’s social media platforms with an eye toward building engagement, growing followers, and sharing our story.
  • Make updates to the Pomeroy website.
  • Create original content for social media, marketing, and communications.
  • Join outings and programs to capture photos, stories, and videos that highlight the impact of the Center.
  • Contribute to broader marketing efforts, including calendars, flyers, mailings, and email campaigns.
  • Use basic graphic design skills to create materials, or show a willingness to learn these tools on the job.

Interpersonal & Team Responsibilities

  • Serve as a positive, front-facing representative of the Pomeroy Center.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with participants, donors, board members, volunteers, and staff.
  • Bring initiative and flexibility to the role, and be willing to jump in where needed.

Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience providing fundraising, communications, and event support OR An equivalent combination of training and/or experience providing high-level administrative support
  • Minimum 2 years of administrative experience in an office environment
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities; sensitivity to the needs/communication of persons with differing abilities
  • Ability to work independently and to accept direction
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete projects on deadline
  • Proficiency in the latest versions of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) and Google Docs, Macintosh programs/operating systems, email, and Internet; familiarity with DonorPerfect preferred
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner when interacting with the public and/or with difficult situations
  • Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions
  • Criminal Record Clearance
  • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and ProAct required
