Development Project Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Development Project Manager to oversee and lead all aspects of construction for commercial retail projects across on the west coast of Florida and primarily in the Sarasota-Manatee region. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of site work—including involvement in land development, permitting, infrastructure installation, utilities, grading, drainage, and paving—while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record in construction for retail or mixed-use projects, deep knowledge of local regulations and permitting processes, and strong leadership and organizational skills to coordinate consultants, contractors, and municipal agencies.

MAJOR DUTIES RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Develop client, consultant, and contractor relationships.
  • Managing engineer and architectural consultants.
  • Managing Contractors during construction.
  • Deliver a profitable project in accordance with financial standards.
  • Develop project budgets and schedules.
  • Development of initial project planning, accountability, and scheduled project status reviews.
  • Maintain adherence to project schedule, including participation in development and regular updates with team.
  • Participate in scheduled project team meetings with owners, design team members, jurisdictional authorities, and construction team members.
  • Responsible for project procurement
  • Preparing contracts and amendments with consultants and contractors
  • Review of lease and contracts.
  • Review and approving consultant invoices.
  • Produce regular reporting on project status, budgeting, progress, turnover.
  • Understand and comply with the company’s EEO policies and affirmative action obligations.
  • Client management throughout procurement, construction, and post-construction processes

SKILLS:

  • Strong technical and communication skills are critical.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of Autocad and site planning preferred.
