Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of our fleet and machinery. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse industrial equipment, farm machinery, and heavy vehicles, contributing to the smooth operation of our operations.

Duties

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems using OEM specifications and schematics.
• Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, alignment, and general vehicle inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
• Fabricate custom parts or modifications using power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools to meet specific operational needs.
• Repair and service heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other farm or industrial machinery.
• Operate heavy equipment safely during repairs or testing procedures to ensure proper functionality post-maintenance.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and OEM guidelines for accurate troubleshooting and repairs.
• Maintain detailed service records, log all repairs performed, and ensure compliance with safety standards at all times.

Skills

• Proven dealership experience or extensive mechanic experience with heavy-duty diesel engines.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive diagnostics, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and HVAC components.
• Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of working with power tools and hand tools efficiently.
• Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and farm machinery; familiar with heavy equipment operation is a plus.
• Ability to read schematics accurately and follow OEM repair procedures for precise troubleshooting.
• Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about repairs and maintenance needs.
• Physical ability for heavy lifting, working in confined spaces or awkward positions for extended periods.
