Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of our fleet and machinery. Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems using OEM specifications and schematics.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, alignment, and general vehicle inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications using power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools to meet specific operational needs.
- Repair and service heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other farm or industrial machinery.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during repairs or testing procedures to ensure proper functionality post-maintenance.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and OEM guidelines for accurate troubleshooting and repairs.
- Maintain detailed service records, log all repairs performed, and ensure compliance with safety standards at all times.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience or extensive mechanic experience with heavy-duty diesel engines.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive diagnostics, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and HVAC components.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of working with power tools and hand tools efficiently.
- Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and farm machinery; familiar with heavy equipment operation is a plus.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and follow OEM repair procedures for precise troubleshooting.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients about repairs and maintenance needs.
- Physical ability for heavy lifting, working in confined spaces or awkward positions for extended periods.
