Job Overview:

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office seeks a detail-oriented, tech-savvy analyst to support attorneys with digital research and evidence organization. The analyst will gather publicly available information, review and organize digital evidence and materials collected by law enforcement investigators, and prepare clear, concise summaries and exhibits for use by prosecutors.

Duties: This position is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from a variety of sources to allow informed decision-making by the Circuit Attorney’s Office in relation to criminal matters. Data collected will be used to identify crime patterns and trends, as well as linking people, places, and weapons with criminal activities.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Collect and organize relevant digital information from case files and publicly available sources to support ongoing prosecutions.
  • Build timelines, link charts, and simple spreadsheets that connect people, places, accounts, and events.
  • Maintain a straightforward activity log (steps taken, sources consulted, search terms) to ensure work is reproducible and case files stay organized.
  • Follow established procedures to preserve digital materials and maintain chain-of-custody under attorney guidance.
  • Draft concise memos and screenshot/exhibit packets for internal use by prosecutors and the trial team.
  • Share practical tips with colleagues and collaborate on consistent practices; escalate complex technical issues to supervisors or external experts as needed.
  • Present findings internally to assigned prosecutors and case teams.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, written and communication skills.
  • Stay up to date on current data trends and techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field or a minimum of a high school diploma and significant related experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software quickly; strong attention to detail; clear writing.
  • Familiarity with common social media platforms and basic search/OSINT techniques (e.g., search operators, screenshots, link archiving).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Excel and organized file management.
  • Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Nice to Have (not required): experience in research, litigation support, journalism, IT help desk, or law enforcement support; exposure to tools like Cellebrite/Magnet/AXIOM, or basic chain-of-custody concepts.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
