Digital Experience and Content Creator (Part-Time)

Role Overview

The Digital Experience & Content Creator is responsible for overseeing the church’s primary digital platforms—including the website, mobile app, and social media—to ensure a clear, welcoming, and mission-aligned experience for Ward Church’s congregation and guests alike.

This role focuses on strategy, coordination, creativity, and execution, helping people take the next steps by creating clarity and consistency across all online touchpoints. The Digital Experience and Content Creator works closely with Ministry Leaders to translate vision into effective digital communication.

Core Responsibilities

Digital Experience & Strategy

  • Own the day-to-day health and effectiveness of the church’s digital platforms
  • Ensure online experiences are clear, current, and easy to navigate
  • Help define and maintain digital “next steps” for guests and partners
  • Recommend improvements to enhance engagement and connection

Website & App Management

  • Maintain and update the church website and mobile app content
  • Ensure service info, events, ministries, and sermons are accurate and timely
  • Coordinate with vendors or internal teams for larger updates or improvements
  • Monitor basic analytics and usability to guide ongoing improvements

Social Media Oversight

  • Oversee content planning and scheduling for social media platforms
  • Ensure messaging aligns with sermon series, seasons, and key initiatives
  • Collaborate with the creative department on campaigns and promotions
  • Monitor engagement and respond or route messages as appropriate

Content Coordination

  • Partner with Communications and Ministry Leaders to plan digital content
  • Establish simple workflows for content requests and updates
  • Ensure consistency in voice, branding, and theology across platforms

Systems & Organization

  • Maintain documentation, calendars, and basic digital standards
  • Identify opportunities to streamline or improve workflows
  • Proactively staying informed on emerging technologies and industry trends

Time & Scope Expectations

This is a part-time (29 hours/week) role with a focus on priorities, not volume.

  • Clarity of information online
  • Consistency across platforms
  • Improved engagement and connection pathways
  • Healthy, sustainable systems (not constant crisis updates)

Qualifications

  • 2–4+ years’ experience in digital communications, website management, or marketing
  • Comfortable working on CMS platforms and managing content updates
  • Experience managing or coordinating social media content
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple teams

Preferred:

  • Experience in a church or nonprofit environment
  • Familiarity with church apps, livestream platforms, or planning tools
  • Understanding of how digital platforms support ministry and discipleship
  • Familiarity with WordPress
  • Foundational understanding of HTML & CSS
