Digital Marketing Specialist

The Digital Marketing Specialist supports the Danforth Center’s digital performance across web, analytics and measurement, SEO/SEM, social publishing/performance, and email optimization for a mission-driven, mid-sized nonprofit. This is a hands-on role for someone with 1–3 years of professional experience who can independently run reporting and basic optimization work, collaborate with internal partners, and coordinate with vendors on web maintenance and improvement. This is a Monday thru Friday, 40-hour work week hybrid position requiring the individual to be on-site at least three (3) days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Website updates + optimization (WordPress)
    • Build and update pages in WordPress (Beaver Builder), including forms, redirects, and basic UX improvements
    • Conduct QA and maintain publishing standard (link checks, page testing, accessibility basics site hygiene)
    • Coordinate routine site maintenance with IT/vendors (plugins, updates, performance checks issue triage)
  • Analytics + measurement (required hands-on experience)
    • Own ongoing reporting using GA4 and Google Search Console; produce monthly insights and recommended actions
    • Maintain dashboards (e.g., Looker Studio) and ensure consistent KPI definitions
    • Apply UTM standards and validate tracking for campaigns and landing pages
    • Support conversion tracking requests (events, goals, form submissions) in coordination with vendors/technical partners
  • SEO + paid search
    • Execute on-page SEO improvements (titles/meta, headings, internal links) and support technical SEO basics
    • Conduct keyword research and content opportunity mapping
    • Manage/optimize Google Ads campaigns as needed (Google Ad Grant experience a plus), aligned to clear KPIs and landing pages
  • Email performance support
    • Support Constant Contact email performance analysis and optimization including testing, click-path reviews, landing pages/forms and segmentation execution
    • Monitor and improve email campaign results over time with strategy and final approvals owned by MarCom/Development leadership
  • Social media publishing + performance
    • Publish/schedule content across priority social channels aligned to the editorial calendar and campaigns
    • Track performance using platform analytics; recommend basic tests/optimizations (timing, formats, CTAs, link strategy)
    • Implement UTM/linking best practices; coordinate landing pages/forms as needed
    • Triage and route media or sensitive inquiries to PR/MarCom leadership
  • Website renovation support
    • Support the planned website renovation by coordinating content inputs, documenting requirements, assisting with QA/testing, and tracking launch readiness
    • Serve as day-to-day point person for web tickets and requests, escalating complex development needs to vendors

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with GA4 (reporting, analysis, insights) and Google Search Console
  • Experience building and maintaining dashboards in Looker Studio (or similar)
  • Working knowledge of UTMs, basic conversion tracking concepts, and performance reporting
  • WordPress CMS experience (Beaver Builder a plus) and comfort making page updates independently
  • Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals; experience implementing on-page SEO changes
  • Experience publishing/scheduling social content and using platform analytics
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple requests

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Familiarity with Google Tag Manager familiarity (implementation/support; not necessarily advanced configuration)
  • Google Ads experience (especially nonprofit Ad Grant)
  • Basic HTML/CSS
  • Familiarity with accessibility best practices
  • Experience using AI tools to support QA, drafting, and workflow (with human review)

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 1–3 years’ experience in digital marketing, web performance, or analytics-focused roles
