Direct Support Professional

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will work closely with residents in group homes, assisted living facilities, or community settings to promote independence, safety, and well-being. Duties

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
  • Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare teams
  • Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safe and accurate delivery of treatments
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist residents during meal times in accordance with safety standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties within the home or community setting
  • Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA and assist in updating care plans regularly
  • Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to promote mental and emotional well-being

Skills

  • Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or other cognitive impairments
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and senior care best practices
  • Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and medication administration are highly valued
  • Strong patient observation skills to monitor health status and recognize signs requiring intervention
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents, and families
  • Familiarity with home & community care practices, long-term care environments, and working within HIPAA guidelines

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $23.43 - $28.22 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
