Direct Support Professional

Job Summary
Adapt is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support and assistance to individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life. You will work closely with clients to assist them in daily living activities, promote their well-being, and ensure a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities in various settings, including home and community environments.
• Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Monitor and document vital signs and changes in health status, reporting any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social skills, communication, and independence.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs and preferences.
• Support clients in developing life skills, including budgeting, cooking, and personal care routines.
• Assist with heavy lifting when necessary for client mobility or transfers.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients while adhering to all health and safety guidelines.

Experience

• Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with first aid practices and patient care techniques is highly desirable.
• Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or other developmental disabilities is a plus.
• Ability to perform patient monitoring tasks effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
• Willingness to engage in physical activities as required by the role.
