Duties
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation to foster independence and dignity.
- Support behavioral health and behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and emotional stability.
- Facilitate community outings, social activities, and recreational events to encourage socialization and community integration.
- Collect data on progress, behaviors, and service outcomes to inform care plans and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Administer medication following prescribed protocols while maintaining accurate medication administration records.
- Use effective communication skills including American Sign Language when necessary to enhance understanding and interaction.
- Drive individuals safely to appointments or community activities using personal or agency vehicles as required.
Requirements
- Diploma or GED or Equivalent
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or disabilities in home or community settings.
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with diverse populations.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for transportation duties.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide caregiving support in various environments.
- Familiarity with data collection methods related to client progress or behavioral tracking.
- Basic understanding of medication administration protocols; previous experience is a plus.
