Since opening in 2013, Meaningful Beginnings has been dedicated to providing exceptional care and education for children ages 0–6 years, specializing in infant/toddler care, preschool, and transitional kindergarten.

As a Center Director, you’ll oversee daily operations, support and mentor teachers, and collaborate with families to ensure every child thrives in a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment. If you’re a strong leader with a heart for early learning—come grow with us at Meaningful Beginnings!

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), including 3 units in Administration and Supervision of Programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field (highly preferred).
  • Eligible to obtain a Director or Site Supervisor Permit through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
  • At least 3 years of classroom teaching experience with young children and 1–3 years of successful leadership in a childcare or early learning setting.

Key Skills and Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of childcare center operations and California licensing regulations.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to implement developmentally appropriate programs and support high-quality teaching practices.
  • Skilled in budget management and general administrative oversight.
  • Proficient in technology and online systems (Google Workspace, Brightwheel, etc.), or willing to learn.
  • Values diversity, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture.

Primary Responsibilities

Staff Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff in alignment with program goals.
  • Support professional growth through coaching and development opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with staff qualification and training requirements.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment that promotes employee retention.

Financial Management

  • Oversee program fees, billing, payroll, and vendor management.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and reconcile budgets.
  • Approve funding for classroom needs, events, and special activities.

Family & Community Relations

  • Support families through the enrollment and orientation process.
  • Conduct facility tours and respond to inquiries.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families through open communication and engagement.
  • Ensure all child records and documentation are complete and current.

Program Development

  • Design, implement, and evaluate educational programs and lesson plans.
  • Align activities with developmental goals and center philosophy.
  • Collaborate with community partners and child protection services as needed.
  • Monitor children’s progress and communicate updates to families.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain compliance with state regulations, licensing, and accreditation standards.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for licensing visits and renewals.
  • Ensure appropriate teacher-to-child ratios and adherence to health and safety protocols.
  • Oversee nutrition, sanitation, and overall facility cleanliness.
