Overview:
This Assistant General Counsel/Director role provides legal advice and counsel for hospitals and associated physician practices in South Carolina. This role supports facilities and physician network operations, including physician contracting, employment law, and patient care related legal matters. The ideal candidate has a blend of health care regulatory and transactional experience with a special focus on hospital operations.

Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.

Experience:

Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school, required.

Five year Law experience, preferably in Corporate, Tax or Litigation with a focus on health care transactions, required.

Licensure/Certification: Active license to practice law, in good standing with jurisdiction in which licensed, required.

Responsibilities:
- Primary legal support for hospitals located in South Carolina and associated integration efforts

Legal support for physician practices located in South Carolina

Advises on specific healthcare issues such as HIPAA Privacy Rule, the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback statute, regulatory and confidentiality issues.

Maintains professional competency, according to department policies, procedures, and protocols.
