POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Information Technology provides vision, leadership, and direction for the IT function to ensure alignment with organizational goals and business strategy. This role oversees enterprise technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, compliance, and digital transformation initiatives. The Director is responsible for leading IT teams in delivering secure, reliable, and innovative technology solutions that enhance business performance, safeguard organizational data, and improve customer and employee experiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Effectiveness/Efficiencies– Develops, implements, evaluates and recommends best practices to ensure effective work processes and systems, maximize operating efficiencies and increase the value of services provided in alignment with department and company goals and objectives.
    • Oversee IT operations, including enterprise applications, cloud services, databases, networks, and data centers.
    • Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of IT infrastructure across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments.
    • Drive operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and process optimization.
  • Internal Controls/Compliance– Develops, implements, evaluates and recommends controls to satisfy operational/compliance risk requirements, ensure data integrity and best practices. Keeps abreast of current regulations and compliance issues that may impact the department and company.
    • Serve as HIPAA Security Officer, ensuring resilience against evolving cyber threats.
    • Develop, implement, and oversee cybersecurity strategies, governance, and risk management programs.
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PCI, SOC2, and other applicable regulations and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO, DDPA).
    • Lead incident response and business continuity planning, including annual disaster recovery testing.
  • Management and Supervision
    • Supervisory
      • Supervises/Manages the following staff: Direct Reports: Manager of Technical Services, DBA team (2), and IT Security Analyst. Manages, plans, organizes, supervises, trains, motivates and evaluates staff; including making final hiring & termination decisions, assigning work, developing growth opportunities, conducting performance evaluations and taking corrective action. Communicates and assures that employees have a clear understanding of performance expectations and responsibilities. Plans, directs and manages toward effective and appropriate activities and ensures satisfactory performance of those employees.
    • Budget
      • Develop, manage, and optimize the IT budget to balance costs, risks, and business value.
      • Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.
      • Evaluate and adopt cost-effective technologies that provide measurable ROI.
    • Business Plan/Establish Departmental Goals
      • Lead, mentor, and develop IT managers and staff, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
      • Define clear performance expectations, support career growth, and ensure succession planning for key IT roles.
      • Partner with executive leadership to align IT initiatives with business priorities, growth strategies, and customer needs.
      • Develop and communicate a clear IT roadmap that balances innovation, cost-effectiveness, and security.
      • Drive digital transformation efforts, including adoption of cloud services, AI, automation, and modern workplace technologies.
    • Policies/Procedures
      • Lead the development and enforcement of IT policies, procedures, and standards.
      • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard data integrity and compliance.
      • Guide executives on IT best practices, emerging risks, and strategic opportunities.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities
    • Customer Service (Internal/External)
      • Plans, directs and manages the activities related to the department. Monitors productivity and performance while ensuring professionalism, quality, timeliness and accuracy in accordance with overall company-wide objectives to ensure positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
    • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
      • Evaluate new and emerging technologies for their applicability to business challenges and opportunities.
      • Promote collaboration and alignment across IT, business units, and executive leadership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science or related field of study or an equivalent combination of education, training or working experience.


Experience

Ten (10) years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in the areas of information technology, systems analysis or a comparable work environment.


Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and solve complex problems with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize with some distractions to produce expected outcomes under strict time constraints.
  • Ability to handle information in a confidential manner and maintain compliance with HDS policies and federal/state laws.
  • Technical knowledge of computer applications for problem-solving (prefer working knowledge of Microsoft Office products).
