The Role
As the Director of Internal Communications for Ascension’s Consumer Experience strategy, you will be responsible for developing and driving internal communications strategies to improve both our consumer and associate experiences.
Our consumer experience work spans each touchpoint in the healthcare journey from the moment someone engages with Ascension to find care. You will work hand-in-hand with senior leaders from customer service, our central Contact Center, digital marketing and other teams across Ascension to understand all components of the experience and support initiatives with creative internal communications approaches.
This strategic role requires sharp analytical and communication skills, amazing storytelling and content creation skills, good collaboration across teams and with senior leaders, program management expertise, and the ability to dive deep in understanding how we can continue to advance Ascension’s mission through improved experiences.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance our consumer and associate experiences

Serve as chief storyteller for our consumer experiences across Ascension, including narrative strategy, content development and the innovative use of various channels to engage associates and improve key metrics

Engage with senior leaders and teams across each major touchpoint of our consumer experience, from customer service and IT to functional and clinical leaders, the Contact Center, and other communications and marketing leads

Combine strategic thinking and big-picture perspective with attention to detail, clarity and focus

Ensure that communications reflect the Mission, Vision and Values of Ascension as a ministry of the Catholic Church

Maintain flexible availability and responsiveness both during and outside of normal work hours as necessary

As an expert in your field, senior strategist and program manager, this role requires excellent critical thinking skills and decisive judgment, top-notch written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytical skills. The ideal candidate will have worked within a complex organization, across multiple teams, to help set and manage experience communications strategies. Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus. Must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required, with 2 of those years being in leadership/management.
Education

Master’s degree preferred.
Work Experience
-
Ten years in a communications leadership role with strategic decision-making responsibilities, ideally working in a large, complex, consumer-focused company

Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical skills

Experience planning and managing internal communications programs and campaigns that directly impact consumer and associate experiences, in support of clear and measurable business goals

Adept at engaging with senior stakeholders

Proven driver and communicator across matrixed organizations, helping to gain internal buy-in and support for strategic initiatives

Experience reaching ‘deskless workers’ with innovative communications channels and tactics
