The Director of Communications, Marketing, and Advocacy Operations is a mission-driven leader who combines people leadership with process excellence to ensure our communications function is effective, efficient, and impactful.

This role oversees both the people and the systems that make the Communications team successful. The Director builds high-performing teams, optimizes operations, and ensures consistency in external and internal communications, brand management, and advocacy support. They serve as the connector between strategy and execution, helping staff stay engaged, aligned, and effective in amplifying Habitat Omaha’s mission.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and inspire people: Mentor, motivate, and support the Communications, Marketing, and Advocacy team; set goals, conduct performance reviews, and foster professional growth.
  • Manage communications operations: Oversee workflows, project management systems (including Monday.com), and brand standards to ensure consistency and excellence across all communications.
  • Optimize processes: Design and improve systems for campaign planning, content production, event communications, and advocacy support to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration: Serve as an active member of the Operations Team, working with peers across departments and the Chief of Staff to address day-to-day operational challenges, remove barriers, and strengthen cross-departmental coordination.
  • Support advocacy: Ensure communications, events, and products that advance advocacy initiatives are delivered with quality and timeliness.
  • Provide operational oversight: Manage budgets, vendors, and resource planning; act as a liaison across departments to align communications, marketing, and advocacy support with organizational priorities.
  • Champion organizational leadership: Participate in planning, change initiatives, and culture-building across the organization.

What You Bring

  • Experience: Minimum of 7–10 years in communications, marketing, or public affairs with demonstrated success leading teams and managing complex projects.
  • Education & Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Strong expertise in communications strategy, brand management, and project management.
  • Strengths & Capabilities:

    • Relationships: Trusted leader who mentors staff, fosters collaboration, and engages diverse stakeholders with authenticity.

Direct reports include: Digital & Social Media Manager, Graphic Designer, Public Relations Associate, Data Strategy & Impact Analysis Manager, Event & Marketing Manager, Advocacy & Public Affairs Associate.
