Hunt Forest Resources is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to lead the company's accounting and financial management functions while partnering closely with operations and executive leadership. This role will serve as the senior financial leader reporting directly to the VP of Operations / COO and will play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making, operational performance, cash management, and long-term growth.

This is a hands-on leadership position that combines traditional controllership responsibilities with financial planning, analysis, and business partnership across multiple operating companies, including forestry, manufacturing, transportation, logistics, and hospitality operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting functions including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight, and account reconciliations
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital planning across multiple business units
• Develop and maintain annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models
• Partner with operational leadership to analyze profitability, production costs, inventory performance, and capital investments
• Monitor key performance indicators and provide actionable financial insights to management
• Oversee inventory accounting, cost accounting, and fixed asset management
• Support banking relationships, financing activities, and lender reporting requirements
• Assist with acquisitions, expansions, and strategic projects as needed
• Coordinate year-end audits, tax preparation, and external accounting relationships
• Develop and improve internal controls, financial processes, and reporting systems
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff while helping build a high-performing finance organization
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies

Preferred Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Finance Manager, or Director of Finance
• Strong background in manufacturing, forestry products, logistics, distribution, construction materials, agriculture, or other operationally intensive industries
• Experience managing inventory and cost accounting environments
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
• Ability to translate financial information into meaningful business recommendations
• Experience supervising accounting staff and managing department workflows
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with ownership and executive leadership
• High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

Additional Qualifications

• Experience with ERP and accounting systems; QuickBooks Enterprise experience is a plus
• Strong Microsoft Excel and financial modeling capabilities
• Experience managing multiple entities or business units preferred
• Familiarity with inventory-intensive operations and operational reporting
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where priorities evolve quickly
