JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, management, and oversight of all Information Technology systems and services managed by Airport Administration. This position ensures secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations aligned with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide leadership in the selection, design, implementation, integration, and ongoing support of all information systems managed by Airport Administration. Establish and maintain IT policies, standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and maintain a long-term (3–5 year) strategic IT plan. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, security, and service delivery through technology.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the IT operating and capital budgets in collaboration with the CFO. Oversee procurement of technology hardware, software, and services. Assist departments with planning, pricing, and implementing technology solutions. Support the development of Requests for Proposals (RFP), Requests for Qualifications (RFQ), and bid documents.
  • Evaluate IT systems to ensure effectiveness, reliability, and scalability. Recommend and implement improvements to optimize performance and support airport operations.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies through professional development, conferences, and vendor engagement. Evaluate new technologies for applicability to airport operations.
  • Provide oversight of third-party vendors and service providers supporting infrastructure, networking, security systems, and user support. Manage contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and vendor performance.
  • Oversee IT infrastructure including wired and wireless networks, servers (on-premises and cloud), end-user devices, and telecommunications systems. Ensure high availability and performance of all systems.
  • Oversee airport technology systems including access control systems, video surveillance systems (VSS), wireless access points, radio systems, public address systems, fire alarm systems, and related operational technologies. Ensure systems are secure, integrated, and scalable.
  • Ensure secure remote access to critical systems including cameras and access control. Coordinate with third-party integrators supporting these systems.
  • Lead cybersecurity efforts including endpoint protection, identity and access management (IAM), network security, and system monitoring. Develop and maintain an incident response plan and conduct periodic risk assessments.
  • Ensure implementation and regular testing of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
  • Collaborate with departments and administration to establish priorities and ensure technology solutions meet operational needs.
  • Provide responsive customer service to internal and external stakeholders and maintain effective working relationships across the organization.
  • Support airport operations during emergencies and critical events. Occasional extended work hours outside of the regular schedule are required.

REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems or related field preferred. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for educational requirements. Preferred 8–10 years of experience in information technology or a related field, including at least 5 years in a management or leadership position.

Experience with airport-related systems including access control, VSS, wireless networks, and communication systems preferred.

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to think strategically while managing operational responsibilities. Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions.

Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with in-house staff and external partners. Requires a strong understanding of modern IT infrastructure, cybersecurity principles, and enterprise systems.

This position will be a full time position. The incumbent must be willing and able to respond to and assist with Airport emergencies as needed after hours.

Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license and be insurable to operate Airport vehicles.

SECURITY: Requires the ability to pass a security background check. The Northwest Arkansas National Airport is a drug free workplace. This position is a safety sensitive position as defined in Ark. Const. Amend. 98, § 2(25). Persons employed in this position may not use marijuana at any time or any place.

MENTAL: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration for system monitoring, troubleshooting, and planning activities.

PHYSICAL: Requires standing approximately 40%, sitting approximately 60%, and occasional lifting of computer equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

ENVIRONMENTAL: Requires capability of performing essential job functions in an office environment with occasional exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.

MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires use of hands, arms, and/or feet for operating office equipment such as computers, telephones, and copiers, as well as handling equipment and tools associated with IT infrastructure.

AUDIBLE: Requires ability to communicate effectively with associates, supervisors, and external partners via in-person communication, telephone, and radio systems.

VISUAL: Requires the ability to read documentation, monitor systems, inspect equipment, and observe operational environments.
