About the Role

The Director of Pharmacy plans, directs, and monitors all financial, operational, and professional activities of the department. Prepares and submit annual budget to corporate office in a timely manner. Develops policies, procedures and processes that ensures the pharmacy department provides optimal pharmaceutical services and meets all legal, accreditations and certification requirements. Develops competence assessment programs that ensure all pharmacy staff performs with utmost efficiency and safety, as well as complies with all applicable policies, procedures, and standards of the health system organization.

POSITION’S ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs and participate in supporting pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and other support staff effectively.
  • Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately into the clinical information system.
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose.
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners.
  • Attend daily clinical rounds.
  • Provide accurate and timely medication information to patients and providers.
  • Participate in required training programs for pharmacists.
  • Set clear goals and expectations; provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
  • Develop talent through mentoring, training, and career development initiatives.
  • Promote a collaborative and engaging work environment that aligns with company values.
  • Manage conflict and make timely decisions to maintain team focus and performance.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and development conversations.
  • Approve timecards, schedules, time-off requests, and other administrative HR functions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and safety regulations.
  • Set clear goals and expectations; provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance reviews.
  • Develop talent through mentoring, training, and career development initiatives.
  • Promote a collaborative and engaging work environment that aligns with company values.
  • Manage conflict and make timely decisions to maintain team focus and performance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current Texas Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent pharmacist experience in a hospital setting.
  • PGY1 Residency preferred.
  • IV Certification.
