About us
Christian Weekday Program (CWP) is a ministry of Springfield United Methodist Church (SUMC) offering daytime and extended care classes for children ages 2-5. We are looking for a qualified Preschool Director to organize, lead and run the day-to-day operations of the CWP. The CWP Director would supervise the CWP staff and coordinate with the Lead Pastor, CWP Governance Board and church staff.
Pay
- The director will be paid a maximum of 30 hours per week at $30 per hour
- The director may receive up to five paid leave days annually (six hours paid each day)
- The director will be paid on FCPS School Holidays (six hours/day)
Responsibilities
- Develop curriculum for each age group, incorporating Christian principles and education.
- Maintain a loving and caring Christian program.
- Ensure child safety in accordance with legal and SUMC child safety guidelines.
- Recruit, hire and train staff and teachers in coordination with CWP Governance Board and SUMC staff.
- Maintain written policies, procedures and handbooks.
- Ensure appropriate accreditation and certifications are current.
- Supervise day-to-day CWP operations, staff and teachers.
- Organize day-to-day schedules for students and teachers (classroom time, nap time, playground time, lunch time, chapel, safety drills, emergency drills, special activities, etc.)
- Schedule field trips, camps, special events, and activities with time before the event for the staff to plan and provide lessons.
- Assist teachers with student discipline, accidents and emergencies.
- Promote CWP and grow enrollment, modifying programs as needed to meet community needs.
- Attract and register students for current and upcoming school years.
- Track children’s progress and report to parents.
- Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche.
- Attend SUMC weekly staff meetings and serve as a liaison between CWP and church leadership
- Evaluate and document teacher and staff performance.
- Supervise the business aspects of CWP including building the budget, managing funds, approving expenses, and financial reporting.
- Organize and execute special camps and events.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher and Leadership capabilities
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children and staff members
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
- Business and financial management experience
- Certification in child CPR
- BS/BA in education or relevant field or preschool teacher certification
Pay: $30.00 per hour
