About the Role:

The Director of Project Management is a strategic leader within the Marketing Team, responsible for the end-to-end orchestration of marketing and creative initiatives across the Canopy USA portfolio. This role is accountable for establishing the governance, systems and resource-planning frameworks that enable our teams to deliver high-impact work with increased speed, clarity and consistency. This individual will lead the transition toward a unified, scalable marketing operations model that aligns brand and creative output with the company’s long-term commercial objectives.


As a senior leader, this individual will connect the dots between brand strategy and execution. This individual will oversee the Project Management team within the Marketing department, mentor and scale the project management team, and partner closely with executives and department leads to mitigate operational risks, prioritize high-value initiatives, and foster a culture of accountability and high performance.


How you’ll make a difference:


  • Strategic Execution & Resource Planning
    • Develop and oversee the marketing project management strategy to support both regulated and hemp initiatives across the portfolio.
    • Translate marketing vision and business goals into detailed project roadmaps, aligning timelines, budgets, and deliverables based on commercial priorities.
    • Serve as a strategic partner to Marketing, Product Development, and Executive Leadership in advancing brand and go-to-market strategies.
    • Drive organizational clarity and accountability through effective project governance (e.g. DACI), milestone tracking, and KPI reporting.
    • Lead the analysis of creative and project management team bandwidth and provide data-driven recommendations to leadership regarding resource utilization, headcount, and freelance support as needed.
  • Operational Governance & Systems Design
    • Establish and maintain a unified project management methodology across all brands to ensure a consistent enterprise approach.
    • Design and enforce a centralized “one front door” intake process to ensure all projects are properly scoped and vetted before resource allocation.
    • Serve as the primary architect for the enterprise work management platform (Monday.com), integrating various workflows into a single source of truth for executive and cross-functional visibility.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of project managers, instilling best practices in agile execution, stakeholder management, and risk mitigation.
    • Provide direction and support to ensure consistent performance, professional development, and alignment with organizational values and objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Act as the primary operational partner for Field & Trade Marketing, Product Development, Operations, Sales, Legal/Compliance, and CUSA executive leadership to ensure transparency, project alignment and remove roadblocks across the project lifecycle.
    • Champion clear communication and operational transparency across all phases of project lifecycles – from concept to commercialization.
  • Operational Excellence & Quality Control
    • Ensure all workflows include mandatory review gates for Legal and Compliance, specifically for regulated cannabis and hemp markets.
    • Implement scalable processes and tools to increase project visibility, streamline workflows, and drive marketing efficiency.
    • Vet, recommend, and integrate new platforms or systems (such as Air, Canva, Digital Asset Management, proofing tools, etc.) that optimize cross-functional execution and resource allocation.
    • Establish and report on key operational KPIs, including project volume, turnaround times and revision cycles to drive continuous process improvement.

  • Supervisory Responsibility:

o This position has supervisory responsibility over the project management team in the Marketing department. This employee has the authority to hire and fire other employees, or this employee’s suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of other employees are given particular weight.


Skills to be Successful:


Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in project management or creative operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing a team.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries; cannabis or CPG experience strongly preferred.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Expert-level proficiency in enterprise project management platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Asana, Smartsheet, Jira, or equivalent).
  • PMP and/or CSM (Certified Scrum Master) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional marketing and product initiatives at the enterprise level.
  • Strong business acumen and exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Schedule:

  • This position regularly works normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Please confirm with the supervisor regarding the expected working schedule.
  • This position is exempt from overtime pay due to executive employee exemption.

Manufacturing environment that requires extended time standing, walking, bending and reaching. Ability to carry up to 50lbs for up to a distance of 100ft may be required. Occasional extended and repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects. Ability to work in a humid and pollinated environment.
