The Director of Social & Content will own the vision, strategy, and leadership of MaryRuth’s social media and creator-led content efforts. Reporting directly to the VP of Marketing, this role oversees three core pillars:


  • Social Media Management – Drive MaryRuth’s organic social media presence across platforms, overseeing channel strategy, content calendars, and execution with the support of a Social Media Coordinator and junior staff/freelancers.
  • Live Streaming & Live Selling – Lead MaryRuth’s proprietary 24/7 TikTok Shops live selling program, managing relationships with live streaming talent and coordinating with the eCommerce team to ensure this sales channel is maximized.
  • UGC & Content Creator Network – Build and scale MaryRuth’s internal network of content creators (video, photo, UGC), growing from 20+ to 50–80 creators across demographics and platforms. This network will provide ongoing content for both organic and paid campaigns, separate from influencer and affiliate strategies.

The Director will bridge content, social media, and creator partnerships across Marketing, Growth, Brand, and eCommerce, ensuring MaryRuth’s social presence is both culturally relevant and performance-driven. This role requires someone proactive, strategic, and deeply collaborative. This is a full-time (40 hr/wk), salaried, exempt, remote position with a compensation range of $130,000 to $145,000 USD/year plus bonus potential.


Key Responsibilities


Social Media Management

  • Own the strategic direction of MaryRuth’s organic social presence across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms.
  • Lead and mentor the Social Media Manager, junior staff, and part-time support to ensure channel strategies are executed effectively.
  • Align social strategy with brand storytelling, performance creative insights, and marketing priorities.
  • Partner closely with the VP of Marketing and VP of Brand to ensure brand voice and creative identity are represented consistently.

Live Streaming & Live Selling

  • Oversee MaryRuth’s unique 24/7 TikTok Shops Live program, coordinating contracted live hosts and managing the programming calendar.
  • Ensure livestream content aligns with brand standards and supports eCommerce objectives.
  • Partner with the eCommerce team on TikTok Shops channel management and sales strategy.
  • Maintain relationships with live streaming talent, creators, and vendors.

UGC & Content Creator Network

  • Build and scale MaryRuth’s content creator network (50–80 creators) to supply UGC for organic, paid, and cross-channel content.
  • Lead a UGC & Creator Partnerships Specialist, ensuring a strong pipeline of platform-native content across TikTok, Meta, YouTube, and more.
  • Strategically diversify the creator pool by platform specialty (e.g., TikTok-first creators, YouTube Shorts creators) and demographic resonance.
  • Develop engagement models with creators (per-content, retainers, etc.) that balance quality, cost, and scalability.
  • Differentiate this network from influencer/affiliate programs, ensuring it drives incremental value to the business.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide proactive strategic guidance to elevate MaryRuth’s organic social strategy, balancing creativity with performance-driven insights.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Brand, Growth, PR, and eCommerce to ensure that Social & Content items integrate smoothly across all marketing pillars.
  • Represent Social & Content in leadership discussions, ensuring the department’s initiatives align with overall company goals.
  • Develop processes and reporting frameworks in partnership with department leadership to measure performance and ROI across social and creator-led initiatives.

Miscellaneous

  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Travel (<15%) may be required on an as-needed basis with advance notice provided to the employee.

Qualifications


  • ~6-8+ years of experience in social media, digital marketing, or content; leadership experience required, and CPG DTC or eCommerce strongly preferred.
  • Experience with TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok Shop, and Amazon Live strongly preferred.
  • Proven success building and leading high-performing social and content teams.
  • Strong knowledge of organic social strategies, content best practices, and platform-native creative formats.
  • Demonstrated experience with live selling, livestream coordination, or emerging social commerce models.
  • Strong project management background, ideally with experience in Asana or similar tools for scheduling and campaign coordination.
  • Experience building and scaling a content creator or UGC network; experience in UGC/content creator management platforms and scheduling tools.
  • Analytical and data-driven mindset; familiarity with KPI tracking (engagement, reach, video completion, follower growth, live stream performance) and comfortable translating insights and data into strategy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to comfortably and clearly brief creators, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Superb collaboration skills with proven ability to partner across multiple departments and senior leadership.

Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This role involves sitting most of the time but may also involve moving for brief periods of time.
