The Medical College (MC) was established in 1983, as a part of the Aga Khan University’s (AKU) Faculty of Health Sciences in Pakistan. It attaches great emphasis to the professional, personal and intellectual development of faculty and students, so that its graduates become contributory members and leaders of society.
The programmes offered by the Medical College are tailored to international standards in curriculum, student engagement and assessment, and aim to develop clinical competence in community settings and hospitals, as well as the assessment of health and prevention of disease in communities through primary health-care programmes.

AKU invites application for the position of Director, Planetary Health, Strategy & Partnership, Deans Office - MC Pakistan.
Job Role / Responsibilities:
You will provide leadership in Planetary Health, Strategic Planning including donor related funding and AKU Medical College’s Partnership with external Institutions. This includes acting as a key liaise with all the various stakeholders within Aga Khan University, Aga Khan Development Network Institutions and other international organizations on these areas of major importance to Medical College. Develop key priorities for the Medical College Pakistan to meet with the current and future challenges of environment sustainable development, maintain and provide growth to the current departmental strategic plans and collaborations with external partners.
Specific responsibilities will include:

provide support in coordination with the University wide Office of Climate & Sustainability, to the curriculum committees of Undergraduate and Post-graduate programmes for integration of planetary health topics into existing curriculum
-
engage with faculty, students, trainees and staff at all levels to support initiatives, research projects, and community outreach efforts related to sustainability and planetary health
-
foster collaboration among various stakeholders to collectively address complex planetary health challenges
-
periodic review of AKU’s Academic Medical Center strategic plan and modify it based on the changing needs of the University
-
develop and where required renew the strategic plans of all the academic departments, CITRIC Centers and Associate Dean’s offices in coordination with the respective leaders
-
manage and coordinate specific, cross-functional projects and initiatives, ensuring successful execution across all relevant areas
-
track progress toward established goals, collect and analyze data, and provide regular reports and presentations to relevant leadership and stakeholders

develop strategic partnership plan for AKU Medical College in coordination with University wide Partnership Office
-
managing and coordinating the execution of projects undertaken by the Dean Medical College related to partnerships with critical national partners
-
building and maintaining effective working relationships with external partners to facilitate student placements, joint research, and other collaborative activities
-
formalizing, managing and monitoring partnership agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs).

ensuring all partnership activities and educational programs comply with the requirements of professional regulatory bodies. This includes gathering feedback and implementing follow-up actions for improvement

collaborate with Medical College donors along with the University Advancement Office to support strategic and department/centre requirements.

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:
You should have:

a Master's degree in Social, Management or health Sciences is required
-
minimum 8-10 years of work experience in project management, sustainable development, or global health leadership
-
demonstrated high level management, planning and organizational skills with strong administrative competencies
-
cultural sensitivity and ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
-
strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration
-
ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take initiatives to creatively solve problems
-
strong project management skills to plan and implement start-up operations, monitor progress and adapt to needed changes quickly and effectively
-
high degree of maturity, sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality
-
understanding and familiarity with interpretation and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data and ability to use such data to inform planning and implementation.

excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong report-writing and presentation skills.
