Director, Procurement and Material Management

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Procurement and Material Management to lead procurement operations for our Neuromodulation Division. This role is responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier management, and material operations supporting our Plano manufacturing site and broader global distribution network. The ideal candidate will bring deep supply chain expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for driving operational excellence and cost efficiencies.

What You’ll Work On

  • Serve as the Procurement Operations Lead for the Neuromodulation Division.
  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives, including supplier selection, contract negotiation, and ongoing supplier performance management.
  • Represent the division in corporate initiatives such as Sustainability, Supply Resilience, and Supplier Diversity.
  • Establish and implement a network-wide procurement strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Oversee the direct material purchasing organization supporting the Plano manufacturing site.
  • Identify and secure gross margin improvement opportunities through strategic procurement actions.
  • Ensure supply continuity and supplier resiliency through proactive risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Influence supply chain outcomes through cross-functional collaboration and strategic leadership.
  • Manage procurement of services and supplies essential to operational success.
  • Lead a team of procurement professionals, balancing tactical execution and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with One Procurement teams across Abbott divisions to support cross-divisional initiatives and drive synergies.
  • Oversee raw material management, including warehousing and kitting operations.
  • Provide functional leadership for Tier I Distribution Center supporting US, Canada, and Latin America markets.
  • Lead all aspects of people management, including hiring, coaching, performance evaluation, and fostering an inclusive and diverse team culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple teams, including direct reports and cross-functional project teams.
  • Strong organizational and governance skills, with experience managing complex programs and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Deep understanding of global markets, supplier ecosystems, and regional dynamics.
  • Demonstrated success in supplier management, contract execution, and strategic sourcing.
  • Experience developing and executing actionable implementation plans.
  • Strong business process knowledge and ability to drive operational improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), or equivalent certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification.
  • Functional experience in both procurement and material management.
  • International experience and intercultural fluency.

The base pay for this position is $147,300.00 – $294,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
