About This Role:
Veranex has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of Proposals and Contracts. You will be part of a team working to improve lives globally through medical technology innovation. The Director of Proposals and Contracts leads a team of proposals and contracts professionals, driving the proposal process to ensure high-quality, competitive submissions that support the organization’s success in securing new business. Oversees the creation, negotiation, and compliance of contracts, ensuring alignment with legal standards and organizational goals. Acts as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

What You Will Do:
  • Own and drive proposal strategy and operations, ensuring alignment with business development and growth objectives.
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of high-value proposals, ensuring timeliness, compliance, competitiveness, and quality.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and business development to influence bid strategy and pursuit planning.
  • Track and report on proposal performance (e.g., win rates, turnaround times, volume), providing executive-level insights.
  • Lead continuous improvement by developing and implementing standardized proposal processes, tools, and templates.
  • Incorporate client feedback, lessons learned, and debrief outcomes into future proposals, templates, and processes to improve Veranex’s probability of winning future business pursuits.
  • Facilitate and lead critical review cycles and executive signoffs.
  • Support strategic initiatives such as partner proposal development, M&A support, and proposal innovation.
Contracts Management
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of contracts, from gathering requirements and drafting to negotiation and execution.
  • Ensure contracts comply with organizational policies, audit standards, legal guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Ensures contracts align with the organization’s strategic goals and support business growth and sustainability.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with contracts, including financial, operational, and legal risks.
  • Maintain organized records of all contracts and track key dates and obligations.
  • Monitor contract performance to ensure all parties fulfill their obligations.
  • Generate reports on contract status, performance metrics, and compliance.
  • Lead continuous improvement by developing and implementing standardized contracts processes, tools, and templates.
  • Provide strategic guidance during high-stakes negotiations, M&A activity, or compliance audits.
  • Standardize templates, fallback positions, and approval workflows across functions.
  • Monitor key contractual risks, obligations, renewals, and liabilities.
  • Provide contract data and insights to leadership through dashboards and reports.
Leadership & Team Management
  • Achieve team results by communicating job expectations, setting performance goals and KPIs, and providing leadership, training, and guidance.
  • Oversee team structure, staffing plans, performance management, training, and career development.
  • Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Participate with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
  • Make final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensure effective achievement of objectives.
Qualifications:Required skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Affairs, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills for developing winning proposals and aligning contracting outcomes with business goals.
  • Deep understanding of RFP/RFI/RFQ compliance, proposal structuring, and strategic messaging.
  • Familiarity with capture management, sales pipelines, and project management platforms.
  • Proficiency in proposal management software, contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools, and productivity applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Advanced project management skills for complex, multi-phase projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of people management policies and procedures, including hiring, performance management, mentoring and coaching, feedback and recognition, corrective action, and compensation administration.
  • Strong leadership skills, including change management, stakeholder management, and negotiation.
  • Advanced writing and editing skills for technical, executive, or compliance-heavy content.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate complex business concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Strong ability to structure a scalable team to promote quality deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and legal contract terms, negotiation tactics, and risk assessment.
