Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Research Compliance, under the direction of the AVP of Research Ethics & Compliance, will support the research compliance program, providing oversight and implementation of the program and promoting a culture of ethics and compliance in the conduct of research at HCA Healthcare.

The ideal candidate possesses strong skills in risk assessment and mitigation, auditing and monitoring techniques, investigative procedures, policy development and implementation, and the creation of training and education programs. Furthermore, you should demonstrate leadership and management capabilities, with a proven ability to lead and manage compliance professionals, mentor and develop staff, and effectively influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identifies, tracks, analyzes, and reports on research activities conducted at HCA facilities and practices
• Consults on research collaborations and partnerships with external entities ensuring compliance through the life of the study from contracting to publication
• Responsible for process initiatives and oversees auditing and monitoring of research billing processes.
• Leads compliance investigations related to research and facilitates corrective and preventive actions and monitors effectiveness
• Contributes to the development and implementation of research policies and procedures to assure safe, high quality conduct of clinical research consistent with federal human research protection regulations and laws
• Helps develop and implement strategic priorities aligned with goals of operational partners, research departments and stakeholders, and Ethics & Compliance
• Facilitates COI process for researchers, including review of disclosures and facilitating mitigation via management plans
• Partners with various stakeholders to create and deliver research-related training
• Participates in committees and working groups as a research compliance subject matter expert
• Along with Research Quality, assists with research audits/inspections by external parties and government agencies
• Provides broad direction and coordination of research regulatory activities to ensure consistency and enable compliant research across the enterprise

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree is required
• Master’s degree is preferred
• 5+ years of experience in a leadership/management role is required
• 5+ years of experience in research compliance is required
• 7+ years of experience in various research roles (e.g., coordinator, administrator, operations, regulatory, IRB, etc.) is preferred
• 7+ years of experience in healthcare compliance is preferred
• HCCA Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC/CHRC) is required
• Research Certification (ACRP/SOCRA) is preferred
• Certified IRB Professional (CIP) is preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required

• Working knowledge of research billing, coverage analysis, and, CMS Clinical Trial Policy is required
• Expert knowledge of federal guidelines and regulations related to research is required
• Use of compliance and research related software and tools (e.g., GRC, IRBNet, CTMS, etc.) is required
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to report to senior leaders and as well as train non-experts is required
• Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines is required
