Job Overview

The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) trips by scheduling drivers, monitoring routes, and responding to real-time transportation issues. This role works closely with drivers, clients, and broker partners to ensure safe, timely, and reliable transportation.

This position primarily supports NEMT operations, while also serving as a backup dispatcher for student transportation routes when needed.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to make quick decisions when schedules or routes change.

Responsibilities

  • Manage dispatch software to assign and monitor driver routes and trip schedules
  • Proactively adjust routes and schedules to address delays, cancellations, will call trips, and service changes
  • Monitor multiple broker portals for trip requests and real-time updates
  • Communicate with drivers regarding scheduling changes, field situations, and operational updates
  • Escalate issues to supervisors when necessary
  • Coordinate new trip requests and provide excellent customer service to clients
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, parents, school personnel, staff, and NEMT clients
  • Assist Tristar drivers and provide support for office phone coverage
  • Support student transportation dispatch when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Some Dispatching or scheduling experience a must
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Comfortable working with web-based dispatching software and tools such as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Strong data entry and computer skills
  • Experience with dispatch platforms such as TaxiCaller, iCabbi, RoutingBox, MediRoutes, or TripSpark is a plus
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Must become a certified driver through the OH Department of Education
  • High School diploma required

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
