Dispatcher/Customer Service

Uniship Courier Services is a bonded/insured courier service, which has been in operation since 1983. Uniship Courier Services started out as a dba under the umbrella of Dahl-Chase Diagnostic Services LLC until May of 2014. Uniship Courier Services was then founded after Dahl-Chase Diagnostic Services and Affiliated Healthcare Systems made the decision to join forces in order to establish a more efficient and cost-effective transportation system.

Uniship Courier Services provides daily pick-up and delivery of medical specimens along with other time sensitive items for hospitals and laboratories, as well as general courier services for businesses and professional organizations throughout the State of Maine and reaches into other New England States. With more than 50 dedicated employees, and a fleet of over 40 vehicles, Uniship has established an impeccable reputation for reliability, friendly, fast, and professional service all at a reasonable cost.

We are currently looking for an individual to join our dispatch team. This position is Monday-Friday, 11am-7pm.

Daily Tasks Include:

• Answering multi-line phone system and directing calls as needed.
• Processing orders received via phone call and email.
• Coordinating new stops and special requests with clients and couriers.
• Transmitting reliable messages Couriers as needed throughout the day.
• Tracking courier vehicles and recording significant information.
• Conducting yourself in a professional manor at all times whether working with clients or teammates.
• Special Package Preparations.
• Trouble shooting as issues arise including delivery/ pickup delays.
• Small package preparation: receiving specimen/slide requests & delivery instructions, item retrieval & packing per company policy, assigning delivery, and sending confirmation to all appropriate parties.
• Report filing as needed

This position serves as part of a team responsible for serving clients and couriers. Teamwork is mandatory.

Position Requirements:

• High school graduate
• Excellent communication skills
• Maintains a professional demeanor both in person and on the phone
• Detail oriented
• Compacity to multi-task
• Computer Experience in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
• Capable of problem solving on the go
• 1 yearExperience in Dispatch or Similar Field (Preferred, but not required)
• Ability to work as a team

Pay will be commensurate with experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
