    General Statement:
    The 504 Team Leader supports secondary school counselors in compliance activities related to the facilitation of 504 meetings, preparation of 504documents for finalization, and the development of 504s in order to address the statutory compliance requirements of IDEA, State, and BOE policies governing the provision of 504 accommodations. The 504 Team Leader reports to the building designated 504 Administrator (s).

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Provide ongoing support to school counselors on how to navigate CT-SEDS including assignment of caseloads, development of documents (invites, 504 plans, etc.)and entering and exiting students in PowerSchool Provide guidance on checking PowerSchool and CT-SEDS listings, scheduling 504 meetings, managing outlook calendar, CT-SEDS and Google invites
    • Establish system to review files (including those of transfer students) for documentation of parental consents, eligibility checklists and other documentation required by local, state and federal policies and prepare and transfer files to the next location.
    • Be a district based resource to school counselors having difficulty finalizing documentation
    • Serve as a resource to school counselors for the development of 504s and information regarding policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CSDE and IDEA regulations
    • Supports professional development opportunities related to 504 accommodations plans
    • Participate in district compliance meetings to ensure consistency across buildings
    • Related duties as assigned

    Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
    Works in standard office and school building environments.

    Knowledge and Skills:
    • Currently employed as a school counselor or related service provider.
    • 3-5 years’ counseling or related service experience
    • Exemplary ability to write 504 plans
    • Exceptional understanding of CT-SEDS 504 modules
    • Extensive knowledge of 504 accommodations
    • Strong communication skills
    • Superior organizational skills
    • Organized and ability to meet deadlines
    • Knowledge of School Based Healthcare (Medicaid) responsibilities.
    • Knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement Operating Systems (i.e. Windows); Office suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs); Presentation Software (i.e. PowerPoint, Keynote); Spreadsheets (i.e. Excel, Google Spreadsheets); Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Skype); Accounting Software (i.e. QuickBooks); Student Information Systems (i.e. Naviance, PowerSchool, CTSEDS); or any other technology deemed relevant for this position.

    Qualifications:
    • Education: Degree in School Counseling or Related Services Area
    • CT CSDE educator certification endorsed for:
      • School Counselor:

      • Related Services:
        • Speech and Language Pathologist (061)
        • School Psychologist (070)
        • School Social Worker (071)

    Work Year:
    Academic year, per teachers’ contract, plus 2 days

    Work Hours:
    Stipend work will be completed primarily outside of school hours, except as appropriate during planning periods, or prior to the start of the school year.

    Compensation:
    Annual Stipend: $1,015 (2025-2026 School Year)
