Job Title: Division Manager, Equipment Services
The Division Manager of Equipment Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the company’s equipment support functions, including service operations and vendor partnerships. This senior-level role ensures that equipment services are aligned with organizational goals, cost-efficient, compliant with safety and regulatory standards, and optimized to support large-scale heavy civil construction projects. The Division Manager drives long-term planning, sets performance standards, and leads a high-performing team of mechanics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Executes daily equipment repair service and directs a team of mechanics and external service organizations to optimize machine uptime and performance.
- Assists in developing and executing long-term strategies for equipment services to support the company’s growth, project needs, and operational excellence.
- Assists in forecasting service capacity to meet current and future project demands.
Operational Excellence
- Oversees equipment service and a team of mechanics for defined field operations.
- Establish and enforce standards for service delivery, safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements and technology solutions to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
Team Development & Leadership
- Manage and mentor direct reports, setting clear performance goals and providing professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with field operations, construction managers, and project teams to ensure equipment services meet jobsite needs.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Responsible for vendor selection, negotiation, and performance management to ensure competitive pricing and reliable service.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across all departments.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all equipment services adhere to company policies, OSHA and MSHA regulations, and other applicable safety and environmental standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
- 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in equipment services or service operations, preferably in the construction or heavy civil industry.
- Proven track record in strategic planning and operational optimization.
- Strong understanding vendor management.
- Exceptional leadership and people development skills, with experience managing multi-level teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a results-driven approach.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise asset management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, Construction Management, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in a self-perform construction environment with large equipment fleets.
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
