We are a small local business offering dog training, walking, and boarding services in Oakland, Alameda, and Berkeley. We're a diverse team with a passion for animal care and welfare! We are searching for people who are detail oriented self starters that love animals. The available position is for a dog walker with the correct vehicle (truck or SUV that can hold 6 dogs), which could grow into kennel tech work at our facility. We're looking for folks that...

• Have a vehicle, as we are not easily located off transit routes and there is no possibility of using public transport to move dogs. In an emergency you must be able to get animals to the vet.
• Can work M-F 9:30am to 4:30pm
• Are happy with 21 hours per week for the foreseeable future. There will likely be opportunities to get more hours if you have a good track record of reliability. may be more hours available with time and we want you to know walking jobs max out at 30 hours per week so 40 hours a week won't happen in this role.

A Day in This Role Will Include:

• Picking up dogs at their home and walking them in an on leash pack
• Learning about training and practicing basic training with your pack in accordance with our training system
• Pack walks are on-leash neighborhood walks. We emphasize dogs listening to commands, with an emphasis on maintaining their training. Many of our clients also train at our facility.

You'll be:

• Learning to identify and manage behavioral issues, including barking and lunging.
• Learning to use professional handling equipment.
• Learning to walk independently, plus checking in with the team through Slack and Walkie Talkie apps when needed.
• Tracking a dog’s progress and working with supporting trainers at monthly meetings to help them improve their behavior over time.

We offer 2 weeks of paid training! Plenty of time to practice and learn the ropes before we let you run solo.

About You:

• You have a reliable vehicle that can hold up to six dogs (hatchbacks, SUVs, or truck w/ shell. No 4 door sedans).
• You enjoy working outside and have a flexible schedule Monday through Friday before 4:30pm (dog walking typically occurs between 9am and 4:30pm M-F). Perfect for students, freelancers, and flexible work from home folks!
• You love dogs and dog training
• You love being outdoors, no matter the weather.
• You enjoy working solo, yet have a knack for customer service.
• You are autonomous, reliable, and punctual.
