Job Overview

Happy Tails is hiring dependable, animal-loving Pet Care Specialists (Dog Walkers) to provide weekday dog walking and pet care visits during core midday hours, with limited flexibility for additional shifts.

This is a W-2 employee role with structured scheduling, predictable recurring routes, and strong team support.

We operate on set, recurring schedules only — this role is ideal for candidates seeking consistent daytime work rather than fluctuating hours.

Our team-based model ensures consistent coverage for clients while offering stable, reliable work for employees.

Core Availability Requirement

We are hiring for 3–5 weekdays per week during our peak demand shift:

Monday–Friday | 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

• Applicants must be available for a recurring set schedule

• Same days each week (no rotating availability)

• 3–5 days/week required

Ability to work additional shifts such as:

• 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

• 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

is a strong plus, as pet sitting needs vary seasonally.

Conditional Shift Requirement

In addition to core availability, employees must commit to:

One Conditional Shift per week (on a recurring schedule, ideally).

Conditional shifts may include:

Weekday Evening:

Monday–Friday | 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Weekend Options:

Saturday or Sunday | 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Saturday or Sunday | 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM

• Conditional shifts are paid at $20/hour

• May be shortened or called off if client demand is low

Duties

• Walk dogs of all sizes during assigned shifts
• Complete drop-by pet care visits (feeding, medications, home care tasks)
• Follow client instructions and daily routines
• Use the Time To Pet app for GPS check-ins and client communication
• Provide safe, positive handling and outdoor exercise
• Maintain professionalism with clients and internal staff

Compensation & Benefits

• $17–$20/hour
• Starting wage of $17/hour, with opportunities to earn up to $20/hour through tenure and leadership roles (team leads, trainers, schedule support)
• Participation in a tip pool, averaging an additional $2-4/hour

Requirements

• Availability for 3–5 weekday shifts (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
• Willingness to commit to one recurring conditional shift per week
• Reliable, insured transportation
• Live within or near our Columbus service areas: New Albany, Westerville, Worthington, Dublin, Columbus, Grove City, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Grandview, Gahanna
• Comfortable walking dogs in all weather
• Able to handle dogs of various breeds and sizes
• Smartphone required for app use
• Strong communication and reliability
• Must pass a background check

Hiring Timeline

• Applications accepted through February–March
• Screening calls completed in March
• Training + shifts begin mid-March through early April
