Established growing electrical consulting firm has an immediate opening for a Draftsman/CAD Operator for our dynamic firm with an atmosphere that is high-energy, positive and entrepreneurial. Our work includes projects in healthcare, municipal facilities, senior housing, K–12 and higher education facilities, hotels, parks, restaurants, office tenant finish, retail tenant finish, as well as core and shell design. Some of our previous and current projects include University of South Florida, Busch Gardens, Adventure Island, Clearwater Aquarium, and Ringling College just to name a few.

This position shall incorporate the drafting of all electrical systems (including but not limited to lighting, power, data, fire alarm, security) using Revit and Microstation software to prepare construction drawings. You will apply knowledge of drafting and design practices and interact with engineers to meet their drafting needs. The role of Draftsman/CAD Operator is anticipated to be only a portion of overall day to day roles and responsibilities. The person in this position may also be assigned as a CAD Lead on a project or may be assigned as a Designer on a project with lots of potential for learning and growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • CAD drafting in Revit and Microstation
  • Draft redlines marked-up by engineers
  • Project Design (within skill set and direction of Project Manager or Electrical Engineer)
  • Efficient and accurate drafting with adherence to CAD standards
  • Create PDFs to send to clients for approval
  • Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions
  • Interact on project standards coordination with clients
  • Inform supervisor of problems or issues which affect the company’s ability to meet customer requirements
  • Make all adjustments or changes to drawings as directed by engineer
  • Make basic decisions but refers most questions/problems to Engineers or Supervisor
  • Use problem solving skills and available information to create drawings that are visually appealing and functional
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some experience and competence in Revit, Microstation or AutoCAD
  • Solid understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology
  • Strong written, verbal, mathematical, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Effective time management and ability to accurately estimate task durations and meet schedules
  • Works well with others as a team player
  • Ability to simultaneously handle numerous tasks
  • Ambitious self-motivated individual wanting to learn and grow

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate of Arts Degree in Engineering, Drafting, Design, Graphic Arts, or related field a plus
  • MEP design experience
  • Knowledge of 3D/Revit design
