Driver - Gesher Express

Position Summary

This position provides transportation of school age students from the Minnesota JCC Capp Center to the Minnesota JCC Sabes Center and back in order to attend Jewish day school utilizing company vehicles in a safe and secure manner. The driver must maintain a professional image and positive attitude when dealing with clients and co-workers. This position is part of the JCC’s front-line customer service team and must be dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our members and clients.

  • Transport members/clients to and from JCC locations
  • Effectively communicate with JCC teams
  • Assist members/clients as needed to safely transport them, including ensuring riders are secure within the vehicle
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and complete daily vehicle inspections as needed
  • Report any vehicle malfunctions in a timely manner so that service can be scheduled

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Licensed driver for at least 5 years
  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions or willingness to learn
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, environmental stewardship, and social justice

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Minnesota Class B driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain a Medical Examiner Certificate from a DOT Physical, this includes pre-employment drug screening
  • Must be able to pass Type III vehicle transportation course prior to first transportation route (training course will be provided by the JCC)

  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate with others. This is primarily an active role, which requires the employee to move around regularly. Additional physical requirements include lifting and moving items up to 25 lbs., standing, crouching, and reaching. Work Environment

Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions, preparing the van for the transport of members/clients (includes maintaining vehicle cleanliness, scraping windows and brushing off the vehicle before driving, warming the van before members/clients arrive, refueling, etc.), and driving a 12-passenger van from St. Paul to St. Louis Park and back (potentially during rush hour traffic).
