Compensation: Salary / Starting at $16.00 per hour depending on experience
Key Measures of Success
· Increase driver base by searching, recruiting, interviewing, and guiding candidates through onboarding.
· Hire at least 15 new drivers per month.
· Monitor and support driver retention efforts across departments.
· Identify and implement improvements to increase driver satisfaction.
· Ensure full compliance with insurance, FMCSA, DOT, and company safety requirements.
· Maintain accurate reporting on hiring statistics, retention, and turnover.
Job Summary
The Driver Recruiter is responsible for developing and executing recruiting strategies to attract, screen, hire, and retain qualified company drivers and owner operators. This role collaborates closely with Recruiting, Safety, Operations, and Advertising to ensure a smooth onboarding process while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
· Serve as the initial contact for all driver applicants.
· Actively pursue driver leads via phone, in-person solicitations, job boards, social media, Craigslist, Facebook, Google Ads, radio ads, billboards, recruiting events, and trade shows.
· Collaborate with Advertising to maintain effective driver recruiting messaging.
· Attract, screen, and interview qualified candidates aligned with company values.
· Conduct background checks including MVR, PSP, Clearinghouse, criminal history, and employment verification.
· Ensure candidates meet insurance and safety hiring guidelines.
· Complete and maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files.
· Track applicants in the McLeod Applicant System and coordinate with Safety to ensure timely processing.
· Manage the onboarding process including scheduling orientation and supporting new driver integration.
· Conduct new driver orientation and follow up at 15, 30, 45, and 60 days to support retention.
· Assist the Safety Department with compliance activities related to FMCSA, DOT, and state regulations.
· Conduct market analysis to compare compensation plans with competitors.
· Develop and maintain driver recruiting programs and retention initiatives.
· Prepare weekly and monthly hiring and retention reports.
· Research and implement new recruiting technologies and social media strategies.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Minimum two (2) years of experience in motor carrier operations or recruiting (preferred).
· Strong sales and communication skills.
· Bilingual – English and Spanish preferred.
· Proficient in MS Office and Windows-based systems.
· Knowledge of FMCSA regulations preferred.
