Dump Truck Driver

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Dump Truck Driver to join our dynamic transportation team at J. R. Coleman Trucking. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating dump trucks to transport materials such as gravel, dirt, debris, and other bulk loads to various job sites. Your expertise in truck driving and route management will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Responsibilities

• Operate dump trucks with manual transmission efficiently across diverse routes, ensuring punctual delivery of materials.
• Load and unload freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, adhering to safety protocols.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, including checking fluid levels, brakes, tires, and safety features.
• Follow designated routes and schedules while maintaining compliance with all traffic laws and company policies.
• Assist with securing loads on flatbed or tanker trailers when necessary, ensuring load stability during transit.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site managers regarding delivery statuses or any issues encountered during routes.
• Maintain accurate logs of mileage, fuel consumption, deliveries, and maintenance records for each trip.

Skills

• Proven experience in truck driving, especially with dump trucks, tractor-trailers, or roll-off trucks.
• Familiarity with manual transmission operation and commercial driving regulations.
• Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using forklifts or other equipment when required.
• Knowledge of route planning and route driving best practices to optimize delivery times.
• Experience handling refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or freight that requires special handling is a plus.
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to following all safety procedures on the road and at job sites.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with relevant endorsements for dump trucks and heavy vehicles.
