Position Summary:
The Academic Specialist – Early Childhood Education (Haryana) will be part of the state academic team and will anchor the design and implementation of ECE-related programs in the state. The role involves close coordination with government stakeholders, SCERT, DIETs, district-level functionaries, and field teams to ensure quality program delivery, academic resource development, and capacity building.
Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Undertake assigned academic activities related to ECE at the state level under the guidance of the manager and central academic team.
- Develop instructional materials such as workbooks, teacher guides, play-based resources, and professional development modules aligned with ECE frameworks and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with government ECE units and partners for state-level academic activities including material development, professional development, academic support, and assessment.
- Facilitate workshops on material development and professional development of master trainers/state resource groups aligned with ECE instructional design.
- Develop modules and resources (handouts, videos, etc.) for teachers and mentors to support capacity building in ECE.
- Visit schools to observe classrooms and collect data on key instructional issues to inform revisions in design and materials.
- Support capacity-building initiatives for field teams in demonstration districts related to ECE.
- Support state ECE units (SCERT, Samagra Shiksha) in system-strengthening efforts.
- Conduct workshops and capacity-building sessions for state teams to strengthen ECE knowledge and practices across projects.
- Lead and contribute to documentation such as process notes, case studies, and reflective pieces to capture academic learnings.
- Provide academic and programmatic support to other units as required.
- Travel regularly for program-related meetings, trainings, and field visits.
- Proactively update professional knowledge by undertaking courses, reviewing research, and exploring innovative practices in ECE.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- Graduation or equivalent degree required; Master’s degree in Education/Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in curriculum design, teacher training, or academic resource development in ECE/elementary education.
- Strong academic grounding in early childhood education and play-based learning approaches.
- Strong Hindi and English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking); excellent academic writing ability in Hindi is required.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet usage, and Hindi typing.
- Strong interpersonal skills, team orientation, and ability to work under pressure.
- Understanding of Haryana’s education system and government structures is desirable.
- Prior experience working in Haryana on ECE/FLN programs will be an added advantage.
