Job Description:

About the company:
The company is scaling its online sales business rapidly, and financial control is key to this growth. We are looking for a seasoned E-commerce Accountant who understands the nuances of online sales, marketplace settlements, returns, and e-commerce tax accounting.

Role Overview:
As the E-commerce Accountant, you will handle all financial operations related to the company’s online sales channels. This includes reconciling marketplace payments, managing refunds and returns, preparing MIS reports, and ensuring statutory compliance (GST, etc.). You will work closely with operations, sales, and finance teams to ensure the financial health of our e-commerce business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reconcile marketplace settlements (such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra) with sales data, fees, commissions, and returns.
• Handle payment gateway reconciliations, logistics / courier settlements, and other third-party financials.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual P&L statements for the e-commerce vertical.
• Maintain detailed MIS reports: revenue by channel, SKU, returns, and profit margins.
• Track cost of goods sold (COGS), shipping cost, packaging cost, and other variable costs.
• Manage inventory accounting, including write-offs, return-to-origin (RTO) reconciliation, and damage returns.
• Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, and other tax regulations relevant to e-commerce trade.
• Liaise with auditors and tax consultants for e-commerce-specific audits or assessments.
• Coordinate with operations, logistics, and supply chain teams for financial insights and cost-saving.
• Implement or improve e-commerce accounting processes, systems, and controls.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• 5–8 years of accounting / finance experience, with strong exposure to e-commerce business accounting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or ERP).
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills (for reconciliation, reporting).
• Deep understanding of e-commerce marketplaces’ payment cycles, commission structures, and return mechanisms.
• Knowledge of GST, TDS, and other statutory requirements in India.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
