Our client is a globally recognized organization operating in Kuwait, delivering advanced solutions in power systems, substation automation, and electrical infrastructure. With a strong focus on engineering excellence and reliable project execution, the client supports critical energy and infrastructure projects across the region. As part of ongoing and upcoming initiatives in Kuwait, the client is seeking to strengthen its engineering team by appointing an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the design and construction of protection, DFR, and BBP panels for substation and automation projects.

Location: Kuwait
Working Days: 6 days per week
Working Hours: 8 hours per day
Contract Duration: 12 months (extendable)
Requirement Period: January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026

Role Overview
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for supporting the design and construction of new electrical panels, including protection panels, DFR panels, and BBP panels, for power and energy projects in Kuwait. The role involves detailed engineering design, schematic preparation, and technical support for substation automation and protection systems. This is a long-term contractual position with our client and is ideal for professionals with strong hands-on experience in protection and control panel design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical schematics for protection panels, DFR panels, BBP panels, SCADA panels, and power quality panels.
  • Prepare detailed control circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, and terminal layouts.
  • Support the construction and modification of new electrical panels in line with project specifications and standards.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable substation schemes, automation requirements, and protection philosophies.
  • Work closely with project, testing, and commissioning teams to support execution activities.
  • Perform and support testing of protection relays using secondary injection methods.
  • Simulate switchgear signals for RTU and SCADA testing.
  • Review and update drawings based on site feedback, testing results, and as-built requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of design outputs.
  • Maintain proper technical documentation and drawing records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as an Electrical Design Engineer in protection and control systems.
  • Proven experience in schematic preparation for protection panels, SCADA panels, and power quality panels.
  • Strong working experience with control circuits.
  • In-depth knowledge of substation schemes, protection systems, and automation concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with protection relays and substation equipment from leading OEMs (experience with Siemens devices is preferred).
  • Practical experience in secondary injection testing and SCADA/RTU signal simulation.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of protection and control engineering principles.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, single-line diagrams, and protection philosophies.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in design documentation.
  • Good coordination and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Kuwait driving license (mandatory).
  • Availability to support the project for the full requirement period.
