Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems for data centers and cleanroom facilities. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in power distribution, critical infrastructure, grounding, UPS systems, emergency power, and cleanroom-specific electrical requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and maintaining high system reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Engineering
- Develop electrical system designs for data centers and cleanrooms, including single-line diagrams, load calculations, and equipment specifications.
- Ensure designs meet IEEE, NEC, NFPA, IEC, and ISO standards as applicable.
- Support the integration of HV/LV power systems, UPS, switchgear, PDUs, and grounding systems.
- Design and implement electrical systems specific to cleanrooms, including lighting, static control, and contamination control.
- Project Execution
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems in data centers and cleanrooms.
- Work with cross-functional teams (mechanical, controls, civil, and architectural) to ensure seamless integration.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Operations & Maintenance
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for electrical infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in critical systems with minimal downtime.
- Implement redundancy and reliability strategies to achieve Tier-level requirements (Uptime Institute standards).
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, NFPA 70E, and local safety regulations.
- Prepare documentation for audits, inspections, and certifications.
- Conduct risk assessments and electrical safety training for technicians.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Experience:
- 5+ years in electrical engineering with at least 3 years in data center or cleanroom environments.
- Proven track record in design, commissioning, and maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other electrical design tools.
- Knowledge of UPS systems, standby generators, switchgear, SCADA/BMS integration, and grounding systems.
- Familiarity with cleanroom classifications (ISO 14644, GMP) and their electrical implications.
- Certifications (preferred):
- Professional Engineer (PE) License or equivalent.
- Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) or Accredited Tier Specialist (ATS).
- NFPA 70E, OSHA safety training.
