Job Purpose

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading, managing, and executing electrical engineering activities for building construction and infrastructure projects. The role ensures all electrical work complies with design specifications, Qatar construction standards, Ashghal regulations, KAHRAMAA requirements, Civil Defense guidelines, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, analyze, and validate electrical designs, drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, shop drawings, load schedules, SLDs, and technical submittals.
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with KAHRAMAA, Ashghal, QCDD, and international standards (IEC, NEC).
  • Coordinate with consultants to obtain approvals for electrical systems.
  • Plan and supervise site electrical installations including:
  • LV systems
  • Power distribution
  • Lighting & emergency lighting
  • Fire alarm systems
  • ELV systems (CCTV, access control, BMS, structured cabling, intercom, etc.)
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and safety standards.
  • Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and testing & commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and ELV teams for integrated project delivery.
  • Liaise with KAHRAMAA inspectors, QCDD authorities, consultants, and clients for approvals.
  • Manage procurement activities, including material selection, vendor evaluation, and technical comparison.
  • Prepare method statements, ITPs, material submittals, MIRs, WIRs, and progress reports.
  • Maintain records of modifications, approvals, and as-built drawings.
  • Ensure timely submission of engineering deliverables and compliance documents.
  • Ensure all electrical works follow Qatar Construction Safety Standards.
  • Verify contractor adherence to HSE guidelines and risk mitigation practices.

3. Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in building construction (residential, commercial, high-rise, mixed-use).
  • Strong experience in Qatar with UPDA Grade A (preferred).
  • Hands-on knowledge of: KAHRAMAA regulations QCDD requirements
  • Ashghal specifications
  • Qatar Authority Approvals processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, and electrical calculation software.
  • Excellent technical reporting, communication, and leadership skills.
