Electrical Engineering Technician

THE ROLE

An opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Engineering Technician based at Greengate, St Helens, working from 7:48-16:00 on Monday to Friday. The successful applicant will report to the relevant Engineering Team Leader and will be responsible for all aspects of the maintenance on the Greengate Float Line, and all associated plant, buildings, services and vehicles.

MAIN DUTIES

?- Planned preventative maintenance on a variety of automated machinery including conveyors, temperature and process control, stacking equipment

  • Fault finding and diagnostics in emergency breakdown for planned situations
  • Modification and improvement of plant
  • Hazard identification and elimination
  • Team-based problem solving
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and support and contribute to the site HSE initiatives

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The successful applicant will have completed an Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship and be qualified to NVQ level 3 with a minimum of 4 years’ time served in a manufacturing environment. Applicants must also hold a HNC in Electrical Engineering. Applicants should be able to read electrical/engineering drawings, have excellent fault-finding skills, and a good working knowledge of PLC's, HMI’s, SCADA systems, Instrumentation, Relays & Variable Speed Drives.

It will be necessary to work unsupervised for extended periods and be capable of identifying, generating and managing work which will involve effective communication with Supervisors and members of other areas. Applicants must be willing to join the on call team to provide out-of-hours coverage in line with the needs of the process, and must be flexible in order to respond to changes in priority or emergency situations which may include operating on a shift system.
