Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Hot Rolling Mill Project
Location: Afghanistan (Project Site-Based)
Project Type: Greenfield / Brownfield Hot Rolling Mill Installation

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Hot Rolling Mill project team in Afghanistan. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems associated with the rolling mill, including power distribution, drives, automation, and process control systems.

This is a site-based role requiring strong technical expertise in heavy industrial environments, particularly in steel manufacturing or rolling mill operations.

Key Responsibilities1. Engineering & Design

  • Design and review electrical systems for hot rolling mill operations (MV/LV systems).
  • Prepare single-line diagrams (SLDs), load calculations, and cable sizing.
  • Develop technical specifications for transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, and motors.
  • Review and approve vendor drawings and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC where applicable).

2. Installation & Commissioning

  • Supervise installation of:
  • Power transformers
  • MV/LV switchgear panels
  • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • PLC & automation panels
  • Coordinate with mechanical and automation teams during erection.
  • Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults during startup and production phases.

3. Automation & Control Systems

  • Work closely with PLC/SCADA engineers.
  • Support configuration of rolling mill drive systems.
  • Ensure proper integration of:
  • Main mill drives
  • Shears and cooling beds
  • Furnace electrical systems
  • Auxiliary systems (hydraulics, compressors, etc.)

4. Maintenance & Reliability

  • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Perform root cause analysis of electrical failures.
  • Ensure spare parts management and documentation control.
  • Improve system reliability and reduce downtime.

5. HSE & Compliance

  • Ensure electrical safety standards are strictly followed.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
  • Enforce Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with local and international safety regulations.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain as-built drawings and technical records.
  • Prepare daily/weekly progress reports.
  • Coordinate with project management and international consultants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in heavy industry (steel plant or rolling mill preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • MV/LV power systems
  • Industrial drives (ABB, Siemens, Danieli, etc.)
  • PLC systems (Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, etc.)
  • SCADA systems
  • Experience in hot rolling mill projects is highly preferred.
  • Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus).
  • Willingness to work in a site-based environment in Afghanistan.

Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹165,000.00 per month
