We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who is responsible for leading the design, implementation, supervision, and commissioning of electrical systems across construction and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with international standards, local authority regulations, and project specifications. This role oversees the full project lifecycle, including power distribution, high- and low-voltage systems, lighting, fire protection, ELV, and building automation, while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives. The Senior Electrical Engineer provides technical leadership, manages risks, ensures quality and safety, and delivers reliable, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions within schedule and budget constraints.

1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development and Validation of System Shop Drawings

Direct the development, review, and approval of detailed electrical shop drawings, ensuring complete alignment with the project’s design intent and execution strategy. Evaluate contractor submissions with precision, resolve design conflicts, and issue technical clarifications to guarantee full compliance with project specifications, international codes, and recognized engineering best practices.

  • Adherence to Project Specifications

Undertake rigorous reviews of project specifications and ensure their consistent and accurate implementation across all construction activities. Monitor site execution against approved standards and proactively address deviations to safeguard performance integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational safety.

  • Advanced Engineering Analysis and Simulation

Perform comprehensive electrical calculations and advanced system simulations to validate design feasibility, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure reliability under varied conditions. Leverage state-of-the-art engineering tools to identify risks, implement optimizations, and deliver sustainable, high-performing solutions.

  • Cross-Disciplinary Design and Execution Coordination

Engage in high-level collaboration with architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and specialist consultants to achieve full integration of electrical systems within the project framework. Anticipate and resolve potential design or construction conflicts to ensure streamlined delivery without delays or rework.

  • Oversight of Installation, Testing, and Commissioning

Lead and supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring precision, safety, and compliance with technical requirements. Validate system readiness through structured commissioning protocols, securing performance certification and operational reliability prior to handover.

  • Quality Assurance and Site Inspections

Conduct systematic inspections of construction works to verify quality of execution, workmanship, and adherence to approved drawings and specifications. Document findings, initiate corrective actions, and enforce quality control measures to ensure project delivery meets the highest professional standards.

  • Technical Issue Resolution and Expert Troubleshooting

Provide advanced technical expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex site challenges and installation issues. Implement effective solutions that address root causes, protect project timelines, and maintain uncompromised quality and compliance.

  • Review and Endorsement of Submittals and Methodologies

Evaluate, approve, and endorse material submittals, technical data, and method statements to confirm conformity with project specifications, safety standards, and sustainability objectives. Ensure technical rigor and maintain comprehensive records for quality assurance and future reference.

  • Documentation Control and Project Records Management

Develop and maintain structured documentation systems for shop drawings, material approvals, inspection reports, and project correspondence. Ensure complete traceability, accuracy, and accessibility of records to support audits, progress reviews, and final project closeout.

  • Procurement and Supply Chain Leadership

Support procurement functions by raising purchase requests aligned with project baselines, evaluating supplier proposals, and liaising with vendors to secure high-quality materials. Drive supply chain efficiency by ensuring timely deliveries critical to maintaining uninterrupted project progress.

  • Work and Material Inspection Management

Coordinate and validate all Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) and Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) to verify compliance with project and regulatory standards. Establish a transparent, auditable inspection framework that assures quality and conformity at every stage of execution.

  • Cost Control and Progress Certification

Prepare accurate and timely Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) supported by robust cost tracking, resource utilization, and performance metrics. Provide senior management with transparent financial reporting to facilitate effective cash flow management and contractual compliance.

  • Comprehensive Project Documentation and Handover Delivery

Oversee the preparation of complete project documentation, including compliance reports, progress records, operation and maintenance manuals, and final handover packages. Ensure deliverables are thorough, contractually compliant, and aligned with client and regulatory expectations.

  • Regulatory, Health, and Safety Compliance

Guarantee that all project activities are executed under strict adherence to statutory regulations, international standards, and occupational health and safety requirements. Foster a culture of safety by conducting proactive risk assessments and enforcing preventative measures across all work fronts.

  • Strategic Resource Planning and Waste Optimization

Plan, allocate, and manage manpower, equipment, and material resources in alignment with project schedules to maximize productivity and operational efficiency. Implement preventive strategies to avoid rework, minimize material wastage, and drive sustainable, cost-effective execution.

3. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering within the construction, contracting, or EPC industry, with at least 4 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other design tools
  • Familiarity with local and international Standards (Kahramaa, QCDD etc)
  • Proven track record in delivering medium-to-large scale building, infrastructure, or industrial projects, with exposure to both design and site execution.
  • Must have UPDA Certificate with Grade A or B
  • Proven ability to ensure compliance with project specifications, QA/QC requirements, and HSE regulations across all phases of construction.
