Electrical Technician

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on offshore electrical equipment (motors, generators, transformers, switchboards, VFDs, relays, lighting systems).
  • Install, test, and commission new electrical systems and devices on offshore rigs/platforms.
  • Conduct fault finding, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and components.
  • Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and safety protocols .
  • Supervise and mentor junior technicians during maintenance and project execution.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, inspections, and reports.
  • Support project teams in electrical design, modifications, and upgrades .


Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline .
  • Minimum 5 years’ offshore experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, control panels, circuit breakers, transformers, and PLCs .
  • Certifications: HV/LV Electrical Safety, CompEx (preferred), IRATA awareness (if rope access involved) .
  • Familiarity with offshore safety standards, PTW systems, and HSE compliance .
