Electrical Technician

Summary of Position: 

The Electrical Technician is responsible for the assembly, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of AC/DC electrical systems, control circuits, and electrical modules used in electrical panels. This position requires advanced knowledge of electrical theory, hands-on fabrication skills, and the ability to interpret engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble electrical sub-assemblies, wiring harnesses, connectors, and control modules using bills of material, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Conduct component-level, subassembly-level, and full-system electrical testing including performance and endurance testing.
• Interpret and apply electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings to ensure proper installation and functionality.
• Identify root causes of electrical failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA safety standards while working around live voltages and high-energy systems.

Electrical Knowledge & Technical Expertise:

• Strong foundation in AC/DC control circuit fundamentals.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and electronic schematics.
• Skilled in fabrication of wiring harnesses, connectors, and electrical modules.
• Experience performing electrical performance, continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing.
• Ability to safely work on energized systems using proper PPE and electrical safety practices.

Qualifications:

• Applicants must be a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year Electrical Apprentice. 
• Formal Education Requirement: 
• HS Diploma or equivalency, Associates/technical degree preferred

• Ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics and engineering drawings.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions.
• Experience working safely with live voltages and high-energy equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and production priorities.

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office and manufacturing shop environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Routinely operates hand tools, power tools and machinery.

Salary Description
